BOWLS TASMANIA PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS DOWN TO GRAND FINALISTS

The weather cleared today to enable the Bowls Tasmania Pairs Championships to get down to the semi-finals on slow greens at Rosny Park today.

In the Men’s Open Pairs semi-finals, Josh Appleyard and Josh Walker-Davis defeated Ben Fidler and Darren Silvey 16-13 and Jarryd Brown and Grant Wakefield scored ten shots on the last three ends to beat Grant Chamberlain and Darren Monks 22-12.

In the Women’s Open Pairs semi-finals, Deb Lee and Kim Saunders defeated Bronwyn King and Alison Venn 15-6 and Lauren Banks and Jorja Maughan beat Jess McMullen and Candice Ayton 10-4

East Launceston’s Heather Thompson and Janet McCarthy won the Women’s B Grade Pairs championship grand final held at Rosny Park today convincingly defeating Penguin’s Pam Lade and Claremont’s Halina Travers 23-4.

In the Disability Pairs championships, sectional winners were Jamie Costello and Damien Parker and Debbie Maher and Alan Ryman who will meet in the grand final on Friday.

The championships continue tomorrow with knock-out play in the Men’s and Women’s Open and B Grade Singles Championships at Rosny Park and Beltana. The championships conclude on Friday at Rosny Park with grand finals in the Open Men’s and Women’s Pairs, B Grade Men’s Pairs, Disability Singles and Pairs and Bowling Arm Triples and Fours Championships.
