COASTAL JUNIORS ON TOP
The champions of the future were on display today at the Burnie Bowls Club on the second-last day of Bowls Tasmania’s Gala Week.
Latrobe’s Blair Fidler and Ulverstone’s Lachlan Thurley remained undefeated throughout the tournament to be crowned the J. Carroll Card Promotions Bowls Tasmania Junior Pairs Champions. In the grand final, Fidler and Thurley defeated Longford’s Fletcher Felmingham and Jack Watson by twelve shots. In the semi-final, Fidler and Thurley were too good for Turners Beach’s Bailey Bellchambers and Codi Marshall winning by eight shots.
Sectional play in the Men’s Open Triples Championship took place at South Burnie today, with winning skips being Lachie Sims, Eden Moore, Josh Walker-Davis, Greg Douce, Luke Turner, Taelyn Male and Mark Nitz.
At Penguin, it was sectional play in the Women’s Open Triples Championship with winning skips being Rebecca Van Asch, Rae Simpson, Denise Tanner, Maxine Monson and Alison Venn.
In the Junior Boy’s Singles Championship which commenced at South Burnie yesterday, sectional play winners were Peter Daines, Adam Taylor, Dylan Samphier, Lachlan Thurley, Jonty Hayes, Bailey Bellchambers and Codi Marshall.
A final big day of Gala Week will take place at Burnie tomorrow with finals in the J. Carroll Club Promotions Junior Boys Singles Championship, the Bowling Arm Singles Championship, and the Men’s and Women’s Open Triples Championships. All the action gets underway from 9.30am.
