Stars shine in State Triples Championships
With the Mixed Open Pairs State Championships finalised yesterday, the Bowls Tasmania Gala Week continued today at the Burnie Bowls Club and the Devonport Country Club with the commencement of the Men’s and Women’s Open Triples Championships with most of the big names in the sport in Tasmania getting through their sections.
Sectional play in the Men’s Open Triples was played at Devonport today with sectional winning skips being Taelyn Male, Mark Nitz, Riley Davie, Cameron Windrum and Lee Pearson.
Sectional play in the Women’s Open Triples was played at Burnie with sectional winning skips being Rae Simpson, Rebecca Van Asch, Barbara Smith, Diane Byard and Maureen Zoon.
In the Bowling Arm Singles Championship, Geoff Buchanan defeated Doug Smith 21-18 and Bill Mottershead defeated Peter Thow 21-14 in two high-class semi-finals.

Gala Week concludes on Wednesday at Burnie with finals in the prestigious Men’s and Women’s Triples Championships and the grand final in the Bowling Arm Singles Championship.
Bowls Tasmania will be live streaming one of the Women’s Triples Semi-Finals on its Facebook page tomorrow afternoon at approximately 12.30pm followed by the Men’s Triples Grand Final at approximately 3.00pm.
