Seniors Pairs Champions 2021

Successful State Senior Championships Wrap-up

by Rick Fontyn on February 17, 2021

The second of the Bowls Tasmania State Championships came to a close today at the Burnie Bowls
Club, with Finals held in both the Men’s & Women’s Pairs, and both matches did not disappoint!
Both Finals came down to the last end, with the New Norfolk & Cremorne Bowls Club pairing of Tony Hack and Leigh Munnings holding on for a four-shot victory.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s Pairs, it was an absolute thriller. Gail Thow and Shiron Beavis shot out to an 11-0 lead early, but their Penguin Bowls Club opponents, Maxine Eaton and Karen Redman fought back hard.
Heading to the 18th and final end, Eaton and Redman trailed by four shots, but they fought right to the final bowl, with just centimetres separating a fourth shot, which would have sent the Final to a play-off end.
Record entries in both the Men’s & Women’s Fours, and the Men’s & Women’s Pairs competed
across the week with matches shared between Burnie, South Burnie and Wynyard Bowls Clubs.
