Introducing RBM – Alan Eadie

by Rebecca Van Asch on April 7, 2020

Bowls Tasmania and Bowls Australia have recently welcomed a new Regional Bowls Manager (TAS) to the team, Alan Eadie.  And what a time to start in this new role with the COVID-19 pandemic!

It has certainly been feet first into this new role and Alan has already been working hard to make contact with our Clubs and to keep them up to date on all of the new developments as they come to light, along with working with Bowls Tasmania to keep our Clubs informed on what assistance they can receive.

The full role of the Regional Bowls Manager can be viewed HERE.  Alan services the whole of Tasmania and you can contact Alan directly for any assistance via Email: aeadie@bowls.com.au  or Phone: 0427 150 918.  Virtual or over the phone meetings can be arranged at this time.

Alan comes to us with a wealth of experience from the sporting sector and with an IT background.  After spending time with Cricket Tasmania in Game Development, Alan took on roles with Reclink Australia and Special Olympics.

“I am excited to be back in the sports industry and cannot wait to start working with bowls clubs across Tasmania.

I see lawn bowls as a sport with great opportunity to grow by attracting new participants, partnering with other sports clubs and ensuring that we offer formats that suit all potential bowlers needs and commitment levels.

I love that lawn bowls provides a community for anyone to be part of, whether that is playing pennant bowls, having a social roll or simply calling into your local club for a drink and social interaction. I hope I can provide assistance to all clubs and participants to ensure that these opportunities continue to be available to all current and future bowlers.”

Alan is fanatical about all things sport and recently took up bowls a couple of years ago.  His background also includes over 300 games of cricket for Mowbray Cricket Club in the NTCA and Hadspen Cricket Club in the TCL.

“I am still actively playing cricket however retirement beckons.  Soccer was my number 1 passion growing up and I enjoyed a career that was predominantly spent playing for Devonport Strikers.  I am now an active coach, having served as Director of Football for the Riverside Football Club for 4 years.

I am a member of the East Launceston Bowls Club and Launceston Golf Club and when time allows, enjoy getting out on the green or fairways. I’m happy to count two B grade club championships at the Launceston Bowls Club as highlights of my sporting career.”
