Seniors Championships Venue Changes
Firstly can I express my thanks to all entrants into the Tasmanian Senior Championships for 2020.
This year has seen record entries in the event, that continues to go from strength to strength.
Unfortunately, in the leadup to this year’s event we have had some hiccups that will cause some logistical inconvenience for some players and for that I apologise sincerely. Please rest assured that all avenues were pursued to minimise the impact to the players and officials for this event.
We have just been advised that the host venue for the Championships, Rosny Park, will no longer be able to host this event. They have advised that their greens are not up to a standard required for championship play. This is indeed unfortunate at such short notice, but I thank them for being open about the situation. It is very important that we play on greens that are acceptable for this level of competition. This will mean that Kingborough Bowls Club will now host the Championships.
I also thank Bowls South and the clubs for arranging alternate venues at short notice. Not an easy task.
I also wish to give a big thank you to our CEO Rebecca and the team for all the work that they have put in to minimise the impact and to alert competitors of the changes. Information and revised draws can be found below. If anyone has any questions or queries please feel free to contact Bowls Tas or myself and we will help as best we can.
In summary, I repeat my apology to each and every one of you. I ask that you bear with us while we work to ensure that the changes cause minimal impact and I ask that you enjoy the week as its is a truly great event that brings enjoyment to so many bowlers.
