Selectors Announcement

by admin on February 18, 2019

The Bowls Tasmania board would like to make 3 announcements regarding people being appointed as selectors;

1 – We are pleased to announce that Phil Hobbs has agreed to resume his position as Chairman of Selectors. He has been appointed for 2 years into this position.

2 – William (Bill) Butler has been appointed the Southern State Selector for the Over 60’s Men;s team.

3 – We have also appointed the following people as State Selectors for Bowlers with a Disability – Gina Short (NW), Marie Cleaver (N) and Rick Ormerod (S).

In regards to the 3rd announcement it is important to highlight a few things. One is that when the selectors are discussing the possible selection of either themselves or people related to them, those selectors will remove themselves from the room to avoid a conflict of interest. The Board deemed it appropriate that this is a unique case and that the knowledge that these selectors can bring of the bowlers with a disability is more important than the possible conflict that could occur. The selectors chosen know the players in the squad well and we have the utmost confidence that they will select a very strong team to represent the state.

There is still one vacancy for a State Southern Junior Selector. The closing date for further applications will be the 12th of March and can be sent to President Sue Ross via email at – president@bowlstasmania.com.au
