Bowls Tasmania AGM

by admin on May 30, 2018

Bowls Tasmania held it’s Annual General Meeting last Friday.  At the AGM we said goodbye to President Garry Beven.  Garry has been a member of the Bowls Tasmania board since 2012 and has been president for the past 5 years.  During Garry’s time on the board he has carried through a strong revamp of the Governance structure and procedures within the organisation. We would like to thank Garry for his time with Bowls Tasmania and for the tireless work that he has put into Bowls throughout Tasmania during this time.
We also said goodbye to Director for Juniors Max Amos who’s tenure on the board has also come to an end having served two consecutive terms on the board.  We would also like to acknowledge and thank Max for his work in Bowls, especially within the junior portfolio.
The Board conducted their first meeting after the AGM to elect their President.  It is with great pleasure that we announce Sue Ross as the new Bowls Tasmania President for 2018/19.  During Sue’s time on the board she has been delegated the portfolio of the Strategic Plan which has included reviewing the current plan to ensure that we have been achieving our objectives and now shifts to preparing our next 5 year plan ready to come into affect from 2019.
Bob Clifton remains as Treasurer of Bowls Tasmania and is joined on the board by Nick Lee (South) and Dee Harman (North West) who are still carrying out their terms.
Bowls South are currently conducting a vote from all clubs for the women’s southern Board position and the board must fill 2 casual vacancies on the board; 1 male director from the North West and 1 male director from the North.  If you are interested in either of these positions and would like to discuss this further we would encourage you to contact Bowls Tasmania CEO Rebecca Van Asch.
Also on the day of the AGM was the exciting announcement of Pat Bennett being inducted as the latest Life Member of Bowls Tasmania.  Pat has worked tirelessly in the Bowls community at a club, regional and state level, having been a past president of Bowls Tasmania.  Congratulations Pat, and we look forward to presenting you with the wonderful accolade at the start of this coming season.
Bowls Tasmania are also pleased to present our Annual Report for 2017/18 for your information.
