Male, Nitz & McMullen off to Tweed

by admin on May 7, 2017

The men’s indoor qualifying event concluded yesterday at the Burnie Bowls Club.

Taelyn Male capped of a very impressed 2017 that saw him win the Men’s Open Singles Title in January and make his debut for Tasmania in April, by claiming the men’s medal this weekend.  After progressing through his section and then post sectional matches, Male then went on to defeat Tasmanian Teammate Robert McMullen in the semi-final and then Mark Nitz in the final.

Home town favourite Nitz, a former Australian Indoor runner up, will still qualify for the Australian Indoor Championships after progressing through the rest of the event unscathed.  Also joining the qualifiers will be NTC Squad member Robert McMullen after he regrouped to beat Kingborough’s Jason Fowler who narrowly missed out on qualifying this year.

Bowls Tasmania would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Burnie Bowls Club and TasFresh for their support of this event again in 2017 and we wish our 5 qualifiers all the very best when they compete in the Australian Indoor Championships at Tweed Heads in August.

2017 TAS QUALIFIERS
