Nothing To Prove – Autobiography of Lee Schraner

by admin on June 19, 2014

Lee Schraner is a new Tasmanian having
moved here in the past year and setting up home in Hobart.  When asked
about his move here Lee said “Tasmania has provided me an opportunity to
live life on a healthier level. The climate, friendliness and general slow down
in life has all helped my health.”

Having friends bowl at Glenorchy-Rodman
Bowls Club he soon found a new home for bowls as well helping them getting to
the Southern Pennant Final this year.  Lee made a big impact in not too
long at all making his debut in the Tasmanian State Team in April this year
at the Australian Sides Championships at South Burnie.

“Playing for Tasmania was an
absolute honour at the Sides Championships. I had a great first day in the
singles but was unable to repeat the form in the Gold Medal match.
Getting an opportunity to skip a rink once again after so long away from the
role in Victoria was something I will remember for a very long time. The
overall improvement in the competitiveness of the Tasmanian team was noted by
many of the bigger states and to beat teams such as WA and SA is a sign that we
are moving in the right direction…Tasmania is a long-term thing for me and I
hope to play many more state games into the future.”

Over the past four
years Lee has been writing an autobiography entitled
“Nothing to Prove – The Autobiography of Lee James Schraner”.

His autobiography covers
many serious issues faced by young adults (and adults alike) as well as telling
the story of how he reached the ultimate peak in lawn bowls and played for
Australia. The book graphically tells of his battle with anxiety disorder and
depression. It also talks about homophobia in a modern society.

His book is now published
and available as an e-book (electronic book). The book is retailing at $8.95
and 25% of the royalties earned from sales will be DONATED to beyondblue.

Further, the remaining 75%
of royalties will be pooled to raise enough funds to have the book printed in a
paper version, with a free copy planned to be delivered to every high school in
Australia.
