VALE: Luke Richardson

by Rebecca Van Asch on November 6, 2019

Bowls Tasmania is deeply saddened by the passing of current Tasmanian Men’s State player Luke Richardson.

Luke began his bowls career with Tasmania in the junior team in 2000 where he skipped the boys fours at the Australia Junior Championships. Luke made a huge impact on the junior scene when he won his first junior state title in 1998/99 followed up again in 1999/00, before he went onto win every junior state title on offer in 2000/01.

Luke then went on to play 56 games for the Men’s Tasmania State Team and skipped in his last couple of series for the Tigers.  He bowled and worked at the South Burnie Bowls Club.

In 2017/18 Luke won the State Men’s Pairs Title, in what would undoubtedly have been a very special moment in his career, winning this state title alongside his Dad, Ricki.  Luke also claimed the 2016/17 State Men’s Fours Title alongside Rodney Horton, Callum Butler and Cameron Griffiths.

Luke also spent some time playing in Western Australia playing for the Cambridge Bowls Club.  During this time he played 25 games for WA as well as claiming the WA State Men’s Singles Title in 2013.

The Board and Staff of Bowls Tasmania pass on their sincere condolences to Luke’s family at this sad time.

Rest in Peace Luke.
