Bowls Tasmania’s State Junior Championships continued today at the Longford Bowls and Community Club with the completion of the girls pairs championship and commencement of sectional play in the boys and girls singles championships.

Glenorchy Rodman’s Miley Sutton and Burnie’s Imogen Patmore were crowned State Girls Pairs Champions when they defeated a fast-finishing Kings Meadows Nakia Daines and Brighton’s Olivia Ims in the final game of the section.   Both teams were undefeated going into their final sectional game.   After an even first half, Sutton and Patmore gradually got on top and led by nine shots after 14 ends, however, a spirited fightback from Daines and Ims levelled the scores before Sutton and Patmore steadied and won by two shots. Finishing in third position was St. Helens Sophie Curran and Isabel Taylor.

In the Boys Junior Singles Championship, three games of sectional play were held, and sectional winners were Burnie’s Miller Hanlon, Cremorne’s Mitchell Banks and North Launceston’s Ollie Wetzel.

The Girls Junior Singles Championships commenced today with one round of the three-round sectional play competition.   Winners after the first round were Kings Meadows Nakia Daines, Burnie’s Imogen Patmore and Glenorchy Rodman’s Miley Sutton.

The championships conclude tomorrow at Longford. The three winners in the boy’s singles sectional play will play each other in a sectional play final series for the championship.   The final two rounds of sectional play in the girl’s singles championship will be played in the morning with the two sectional winners playing off in the grand-final in the afternoon.

Bowls Tasmania will be live streaming one of the boy’s sectional final series games at approximately 12 noon followed by the girls singles grand-final at approximately 2.30pm on its Facebook page.
