A titan both on and off the green, Parrella’s influence on bowls in Australia and across the world will endure for generations.
Parrella’s international career with the Australian Jackaroos is unrivalled in its breadth and impact.
Wearing the green and gold with pride, he amassed 127 international appearances and competed across three Commonwealth Games – Brisbane 1982, Auckland 1990 and Victoria 1994 – becoming one of the most recognisable figures in world bowls.

On the international stage he further showcased his prowess with three Asia Pacific Championships gold medals, winning both singles and pairs in 1989 and singles again in 1991.
Representing Queensland with distinction over many years, Parrella was a cornerstone of the state’s dominance during a golden era, bringing an uncompromising competitive edge and elite standards to every arena he entered
