State Pennant Finals in Hobart
Bowls Tasmania’s Saturday State Pennant finals commence on Saturday and concludes on Sunday at the Claremont and Sandy Bay Bowls Clubs with premiers from the South, North, North-West and East Coast playing against each other in the grand finale of bowls for the season.
Teams competing are:
- Premier: Kingborough, Longford and Ulverstone
- Division 1: Royal Hobart, North Launceston and Burnie
- Division 2: Howrah, Midlands and Devonport
- Division 3: Kingborough, Cressy, Ridgley and Scamander
- Division 4: Claremont, Deloraine and Port Sorell
- Division 5: Franklin, Invermay and Railton
- Division 6: Claremont and Cosgrove Park
In Premier Division, some of the best bowlers in Tasmania will fight it out for State Premiership honours. Current State premiers Kingborough will play Longford on Saturday morning in a game that could go either way. Sandy Bay finished well on top of Premier Division in the South but bombed out of the finals in straight games with Kingborough winning the second semi-final by four shots and then comfortably defeating Brighton by 32 shots in the grand final. Longford is confident of a good showing against Kingborough after finishing the season on top of the ladder and defeating East Launceston in both the second semi-final and the grand final. The loser of that game will play the star-studded Ulverstone line-up who only lost two games for the season and include six State players in their line-up. The winner of the Kingborough and Longford game will play Ulverstone on Sunday morning in a game that should decide who will be the Premier Division State Champions for 2024-25.
Premier and Divisions 3 and 6 are being played at Claremont with the remaining Divisions being played at Sandy Bay. Games commence at 9.30am and 1pm on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday.
