State Pairs Championships underway
Tasmania’s best bowlers took to the greens at New Norfolk, Kingborough and Rosny Park Rosny Park as Bowls Tasmania’s Gala Week continued with sectional play in the Men’s and Women’s Open Pairs Championships being played.
Hot and humid conditions turned in the afternoon when a strong southerly change came in resulting in a noticeable drop in temperature and bringing with it strong gusty winds.
Sectional winners in the Men’s Open Pairs Championships were Phil Ions and Michael Andersch, Tim Douce and Josh Mabb, Gary McCarthy and Leigh Griffiths, Kevin Raby and John McDonald, Robert O’Neill and Clinton Seabourne, David Minns and Lucas Howell, Nathan Dinning and Peter Bannister, Rob McMullen and Bailey Bellchambers, Grant Wakefield and Matthew Breward, Shane Garth and Darryn Reeve, Michael Sims and Ollie Morrison and Chris Martyn and Ricky Limbrick.
In the Women’s Open Pairs Championships, sectional play winners were Joy Voss and Jeanette Lane, Ali Venn and Bronny King, Rae Simpson and Tracey Little, Crystal Brooks and Michelle Moate, Maddie Johnston and Kerrie Lane, Mikayla Baker and Charlie Harkness, Amity Bickley and Ashlee Woolley, Carol Bannister and Lyn Crosswell and Peri Buckley and Jean Claridge.

The championships continue tomorrow with post-sectional play and semi-finals in the Men’s and Women’s Open Pairs Championships. Sectional play commences in the Para Bowls Pairs and Bowling Arm Fours Championships. All games will be played at Kingborough.
