Hobart Hurricanes win Battle of the Codes at Government House
In a hotly contested event, the Hobart Hurricanes remained unbeaten and won the inaugural Battle of the Codes lawn bowls event which was played on the green at Government House on Friday 04 October 2024. on behalf of Bowls Australia, Clubs Tasmania, and Bowls Tasmania. Just behind them with just one loss was the Tassie Tigers and the Tasmania Jack Jumpers finished strongly to finish in third position. (Pictured are the winners and runners up.)
Teams competing on the day were the professional men’s Twenty20 franchise cricket team Hobart Hurricanes, professional field hockey club Tassie Tigers, Netball Tasmania, AFL Tasmania and the brand-new Tasmania Football Club, the Devils, who are set to compete in the AFL from 2028, and current NBL champions the Tasmania Jack Jumpers.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for Tasmanian sporting organisations to gather together to enjoy some friendly rivalry in the magnificent grounds of Government House.
The Tasmania Tridents were in attendance, alongside thee current world ranking number one female bowler, Kelsey Cottrell, to provide advice and tips to the teams.
The winning team received a signed Tasmania Tridents shirt presented to them by Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania.
