State Pairs Championships underway

Tasmania’s best bowlers took to the greens at North Launceston, Invermay, Trevallyn, Cosgrove Park and Longford today as Bowls Tasmania’s Gala Week continued with sectional play in the Men’s and Women’s Open and B Grade Pairs Championships being played.

Sectional winners in the Men’s Open Pairs Championships were David Minns and Drew Berwick, Darren Monks and Chris Norris, Joey Thomas and Chad Morrison, Rick Ormerod and Cam Norris, Mark Nitz and Bailey Bellchambers, Josh Walker-Davis and Ollie Morrison, Mike Gaffney and Dale Smith, Aaron Donohue and Shaun Donohue, Reiley Banks and Riley Davie and Tony Simpson and Jonty Hayes.

In the Women’s Open Pairs Championships, sectional play winners were Barb Liddington and Linda Rose, Lyn Triffitt and Trudy Davis, Tracey Little and Glenda Fielding, Ali Venn and Karen Redman, Rae Simpson and Jean Claridge, Crystal Brooks and Joy Voss and Denise Tanner and Lyn Page.

The Women’s B Grade Championships concluded today with Kings Meadow’s Cherylle Pedley and Gaylene Heron being declared State Champions.   Played as sectional play, Pedley and Heron remained undefeated during all day.   Runners-up were Cosgrove Park’s Shaz Hyland and Penguin’s Gena Short.

The championships continue tomorrow with post-sectional play and semi-finals in the Men’s and Women’s Open and B Grade Pairs Championships.     Sectional play commences in the Para Bowls Pairs and Bowling Arm Fours Championships.   All games will be played at North Launceston.
