Tasmanian Junior State Singles Championships Underway
Bowls Tasmania’s State Junior Championships continued today at the Longford Bowls and Community Club with sectional play in the boys and girls singles championships.
In the Boys Junior Singles Championship, sectional play winners were Trey Daines, Riley Davie, Mitchell Banks, Reily Banks, Lachie Thurley, James Jones, Archie Burton and Jonty Hayes, all of whom went through the sectional play undefeated. In the quarterfinals that were played at the played at the end of the day, Trey Daines defeated Riley Davie 21-17, Reily Banks beat Mitchell Banks 21-10, Lachie Thurley accounted for James Jones 21-8 and Jonty Hayes beat Archie Burton 21-13.
In the Girls Junior Singles Championships, sectional play winners were Chloe Collins and Amity Bickley who were both undefeated today and will meet in the grand final on Wednesday.
The championships conclude tomorrow (Wednesday) with the grand final of the Boys Pairs Championship, the grand final of the Girls Singles Championship and semi-finals and the grand final of the Boys Singles Championship. Due to forecast heavy overnight rain which threatens to continue into most of Wednesday, play has been moved to the Kings Meadows indoor Centre.
