Sutton and Triffitt and Thurley and Hayes take out State Junior Pairs Championships

In the J. Carroll Club Promotions Bowls Tasmania State Junior Pairs Championship played at Trevallyn today, Glenorchy Rodman’s Miley Sutton and Claremont’s Jaylah Triffitt won the Girls Pairs Championship and Ulverstone’s Lachie Thurley and Burnie’s Jonty Hayes took out the Boy’s Pairs Championship.

In an exciting girls grand final, Sutton and Triffitt played some great bowls but only managed to draw away from Trevallyn’s Chloe Collins and Invermay’s Nakia Daines in the last few ends to win by four shots.

Thurley and Hayes started the boys grand final well and looked like they were going to record a huge win before Claremont’s Adam Taylor and Brighton’s Riley Davie staged a tremendous comeback to get within three shots with two ends to play.   However, Thurley and Hayes settled and won by seven shots.   In an extremely tight semi-final, Thurley and Hayes looked down and out but stormed home to level the scores after 18 ends against Deloraine’s Dylan Samphier and Invermay’s Trey Daines.   In the one-end playoff, both pairs played some great bowls before Samphier played a bomb with his last bowl to collect the kitty only to see it ricochet to his opponents bowl to lose the end and the semi-final by one shot.

Sectional play in the Men’s Open Triples was played at Kings Meadows today with sectional winners being Josh Appleyard, Scott Summers, Tim Douce, David Minns, Taelyn Male, Mark Nitz and Tony Rowe.

Sectional play in the Women’s Open Triples was played at Trevallyn today with sectional winners being Carol Bannister, Rebecca Van Asch, Erin Moore, Dee Harman and Heather Thompson,

Gala Week concludes on Wednesday at Trevallyn with finals in the prestigious Men’s and Women’s Triples Championships, finals in the J. Carroll Card Promotions Boys Junior Singles Championships and the grand final in the Junior Girls Singles Championship together with finals in the Bowling Arm Singles Championship.
