The first grand final of Bowls Tasmania’s Gala Week of State Championships was decided in the Bowling Arm Pairs where Trevallyn’s Geoff Buchanan and Joe Reissig made it three State Bowling Arm Pairs Championship in a row with a hard fought two shot win over West Launceston’s  Lynne Hill and Invermay’s Jeremy Bracken.

Hill and Bracken raced away to a seven shot lead after six ends in the grand final and an upset was on the cards before Buchanan and Reissig won five ends in a row to hit the front.   Scores were level after 12 ends before Buchannan and Reissig steadied to win a great grand final by two shots.

In the semi-finals, Buchanan and Reissig defeated  Heather Jones and Rodney O’Halloran by ten shots and Hill and Bracken comfortably defeated Shaz Hyland and Gena Short by 15 shots
