STATE WIDE CHALLENGE GOES DOWN TO THE WIRE

by Rob McGuire on March 6, 2022

The final round of Bowls Tasmania’s Open State Wide Challenge is underway at North Launceston this afternoon.

Bowls South men are 12 points in front going into the last round and pay North 1. A win to Bowls South will give them the trophy, however, Bowls North has two teams competing and could get up if its first team can defeat Bowls South.

In the women’s competition, Bowls North hold a handy 7-point lead over Bowls South and should hold on to claim the trophy given that it has two teams competing.

The overall SWC shield – which incorporates all results including the open, seniors and juniors – is a two-way battle between Bowls South on 229 points and 208 points. With Bowls North fielding two teams in both the men’s and women’s competition, the shield will go down to the wire.
