Bowls Tasmania’s 2021 Men’s Bowler of the Year Announced

by Rob McGuire on December 10, 2021

Bowls Tasmania is pleased to announce that Michael Sims (pictured)from the Trevallyn Bowls Club is the winner of the 2021 Men’s Bowler of the Year Award.

All Bowls Tasmania Open Championships, Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours, along with all open regional events of the same disciplines together with the Bowls Tasmania Open Mixed Pairs can gain points towards Bowler of the Year standings.

The men’s race was a very tight one this year with only one point splitting first and second – with Sims getting the nod over last year’s Men’s Bowler of the Year, Mark Nitz.

Michael Sims was a consistent performer at the Tasmanian Championships during the 2021 season claiming runner-up points in the Open Triples, Pairs and Fours events and took out the Bowls North Open Singles Championship to seal his win.

Congratulations Michael.

Final Standings:

80 – Michael Sims (Trevallyn)

79– Mark Nitz (Burnie)

68 – Jacob Brown (Penguin)

67 – Tim Douce (Latrobe)

56 – Josh Walker-Davis (Longford)
