State Mixed Pairs Champions Crowned
The Tasmanian Mixed Pairs came to a conclusion today at the North Launceston Bowls Club with the event down to the quarter final stages at the start of the day.
David Genford and Lyn Triffitt came out all guns blazing with a 17-2 victory over Steve Graf and Peri Buckley. While Taelyn Male and Danielle Towns proved too strong for father daughter combination Scott and Amity Booth. Julian Brown and Debra Duff both from Penguin also made their intentions known with a 16-3 victory over husband and wife duo John Sutcliffe and Rosie Geeves. While Jess and Robert McMullen put on a dominant display against Michael Sims and Rebecca Van Asch.
The McMullen’s kept this dominance going to defeat Brown and Duff 17-6 in one semi final, while Male and Towns took out the other semi 15-11 over Genford and Triffitt.
It was Male and Towns that jumped out of the blocks early to take a small lead before the McMullen’s leveled the scores after 6 ends. The husband and wife combination never looked back after this and with a 9 shot buffer with one end to play were crowned the 2020 Tasmanian Mixed Pairs Champions.
