Tasmanian Junior Team Announcement
Bowls Tasmania are today pleased to announce the Tasmanian Junior Team to compete at the Australian Junior Championships at the Capalaba Bowls in Queensland, October 3rd – 5th 2018.
Our Tasmanian Aceit Cubs have just completed a tremendous victory by both our boys and girls teams against Victoria in their annual test series earlier this month at the Howrah Bowls Club. The boys regained the field that they lost to the Vics last year while the girls won their shield for only the second time in 15 years showing the growth occurring in the girls game in Tasmania.
Representing Tasmania in the blue ribbon singles are Lauren Banks (New Norfolk) and Josh Walker-Davis (Trevallyn) who both won their respective Tasmanian junior singles titles earlier this year. Banks will be joined by Claremont’s Jorja Maughan who will skip them in the pairs after they won the state junior pairs title earlier this year. While Walker-Davis and Sandy Bay’s Isaac Maughan will join forces once again in the boys pairs after claiming the bronze medal at last years Australian Junior Championships.
Logyn Curtis (Trevallyn) and Casey Cornish (St John’s Park) will be hoping to go one better this year in the girls triples when they are joined by nationals debutant Crystal Brooks (Glenorchy Rodman) this year. Curtis and Cornish were silver medalists in this event last year with Ebony White. While the triples girls will be skipped by Jorja Maughan in the fours discipline.
Patrick Oldham (Trevallyn) takes the reins as skipper of the boys Triples and Fours and will be joined by Kyron Daly (Sheffield) who won the state boys pairs earlier in the year and National Debutant Liam Davern (Kings Meadows) in both disciplines, with Isaac Maughan joining the boys as lead of the fours.
