Senior Velioa SWC RD 1

by admin on December 6, 2015

Tomorrow sees the first round of the senior division of the Veolia State Wide Challenge commence at the Port Sorell Bowls Club.
The South will be looking to replicate last year’s strong performances when they claimed both the men and women’s senior shields in its inaugural year.  The women will however will be missing two of the Tasmanian Senior Skips with Sonia Martyn and Yvonne Buckley both unavailable for this round, and the men will be without John McKibben.
The North West finished second on both ladders last year and will no doubt be trying to capitalise on the opportunity to score bonus points with their second side in action during this round.  The men’s side boast a wealth of experience with 5 members of the current State Side lining up in this round; Wayne Manson, Wayne Wilcox, Evol Kaine, Phillip Moore and Trevor Docking.  While the ladies side looks just as strong with former state players Judy Hope, Gail Thow, Jenny Grandfield and Mary Beaumont all in action.  While Pam Cox and Veronica Streets will be hoping to replicate their undefeated performances during the Open State Wide Challenge when they teamed up together in that as well.
The Northern teams will no doubt be hoping to improve on last year’s performances that saw them at the bottom of both ladders and with Peter Zoon and Kim Saunders both headlining their sides this round.
