It’s a wrap for Day 1 of the Senior Sides.

With round one completed at the Australian Sides Championships being held at North Launceston, the New South Wales men have made their presence felt as they hunt down a fourth straight title in this event.  The blues didn’t give their Northern Territory opponents an inch, claiming wins on all three rinks.  While the New South Wales women followed suit to make it a further three from three.
While in the women’s event the Queensland women made their intentions clear with a narrow 5 shot victory against defending champions Western Australia.  It was also a close encounter between the Queensland and Western Australian men, with the Maroons stealing a one shot victory against the Sandgropers.
The hometown favourites, Tasmania suffered a day to forget in their first up games against Victoria, unable to claim a rink win in either the men’s or women’s event.  And in the final contest of the day South Australia proved too strong for the ACT, claiming 5 of the 6 rinks on offer.
