State Coaches Announced
Bowls Tasmania are pleased to announce the appointment of the 4 new coaches to cover the Open men and women and the Junior boys and girls.
Wayne Manson is set to continue in his role as State Men’s Coach for a further 2 years after spending the past few seasons working up a great repour with the men’s squad and developing many players coming through, culminating in their victory in the French Holbrook Series against Victoria in December. Manson has been a successful player for Tasmania in his own right having made 88 appearances for his State throughout his career and still continues to represent Tasmania in the Senior Men’s team.
John Howard steps into the role of State Women’s Open Coach for 2 years. Howard has a wealth of experience as player, selector and coach over many years in the game. He has represented Tasmania as a player on 33 occasions, was state male selector for many years as well as Bowls South skipper, selector and coach during his celebrated career. John is very keen to join forces with Wayne Manson and lead our ladies to success over the next few years.
Bowls Tasmania would like to thank outgoing women’s coach Marie Cleaver for her hard work and service over the past year and a half. She will focus her attention on the Technical arm of our sport as she continues in her role as one of three Presenter and Assessors Statewide that conduct all officiating courses.
Tom O’Brien will remain in his position as State Boy’s Coach, a role that he has held for the past 2 years. Before this Tom was also involved in the Juniors as a Selector. The State Girls Coach also remains unchanged with Kath Wootton once again charged with the duty. Kath has been involved with junior bowls for 15 years, holding roles as North West Junior Coach, as well as State Selector, Manager and Coach previously.
We wish all 4 incumbent coaches all the very best and look forward to the improvement we all strive for in our State Representative Sides.
