Bowls Tasmania Announcement – Chairman of Selectors

by admin on June 22, 2014

Over the past 6 months we have been through some
significant change to our high performance program including, the enhancement
of the previous Statewide pennant, restructure of our squad formation,
introduction of a senior (over 60’s) program and the creation of an annual high
performance schedule.

One of the last areas to review was the liaison
between the board and our selection panels and the ability to ensure correct
board direction, process, communication and implementation of policies are adhered
to across ALL selection panels and teams that represent Bowls Tasmania in a
consistent manner.

Following extensive consultation Bowls Tasmania is
pleased to announce the appointment of Phillip Hobbs, who has accepted the
position of “State Chairman of Selectors” and will undertake that
role for all state selection panels including men’s and ladies senior, open and
underage sides.

Phil joins BT in this position with a wealth
of experience having been through the junior program as a parent, the open
squad  as a player and as current open
men’s southern selector. As part of this role Phil will step down from all
other positions at regional and club level to concentrate on this extremely
important role.

Bowls Tasmania would like to take this opportunity
to thank Grant Allford (open men) who’s exceptional work over the past 2 years
has made this decision difficult.  Grant
will not be lost and will continue with his input and leadership as the current
South Selector.  Judy Hope (dual
selector/C of S open ladies), who will remain as the NW ladies selector and
Bernard Knight (Juniors), who have undertaken their roles over the past couple
of seasons and we hope they will remain active workers for Bowls Tasmania
moving forward.
