Bowls Australia and the nine state and territory associations have announced a monumental landmark agreement for the sport, with the national governing body and all STAs establishing a partnership with IMG Sports Technology Group to provide a complete ‘whole of sport IT system’.
In a unique deal, IMG STG will provide its innovative technical solutions, incorporating websites, online competition management system, membership database and e-commerce platforms to the sport’s national and state bodies, in addition to each and every one of its 1954 clubs across the nation, further enhancing the capabilities and appeal of the sport across all levels.
The agreement is the first of its kind for bowls in Australia, with each state and territory signing the agreement and becoming a key decision making partner of the new unified system.
A crucial element of the collaboration will be the new look Bowls Australia, state and territory associations, district/zone/region and club websites, which will be launched on Monday, July 1.
The partnership will also afford the sport with a new competition management system tailored to bowls’ unique needs and integrated with the database and new website platforms, with a progressive roll out of these features occurring in the coming months.
Bowls Australia Chief Executive Officer Neil Dalrymple said the unveiling of the whole of sport IT system is a major coup for bowls and will lead to a greater online presence and assist with attracting new participants and members.
“Bowls Australia and the state and territory associations are extremely pleased to be joining IMG STG’s stable of sports,” Mr Dalrymple said.
“We are especially looking forward to providing our state and territory associations, and our clubs, with access to the features and tools that will be made available to them through this agreement.
“By having all levels of associations, from national level down to club and grassroots level on the IMG STG system will make processes simpler and reduce the workload for all bodies involved, and will enable the sport to become efficient through the use of technology.”
IMG STG Chief Executive Officer Glen McGoldrick expressed his delight with working with Bowls Australia and the nine state and territory associations.
“It is such an honour to be involved in such an exciting partnership with a sport that truly forms part of the fabric of Australian sport,” Mr McGoldrick said.
“Lawn bowls has such a rich history and tradition and holds a special place in the Australian sporting landscape”.
While the new websites are due for an imminent launch on July 1, work is already well underway on the creation of the bowls specific competition management system and database platform, with their roll out to commence nationally in the next few months.
