Tasmanian Senior Squads

by admin on April 11, 2016

Bowls Tasmania have today named 14 men and 14 women in the Tasmanian Senior (Over 60s) Squads.  This comes on the back of the inaugural Tasmanian Senior Championships that were held last week in Launceston.  In its first year the new look championships bought in over 220 competitors in men’s and women’s pairs and fours events.
This event will now rotate around each region of the state each year following the Open Championships.  Bowls Tasmania CEO Rebecca Van Asch said the event has certainly been deemed a success in its first year.  “We are thrilled with the support the event received this year in its first year and we sincerely believe that it will only grow and become bigger and better over the next few years as it rotates around each region.  We understand that the over 60s in our game make up the biggest demographic of our sport and we are delighted to offer an event specifically for those players”.
This event along with the three senior rounds of the Veolia State Wide Challenge and the performances of players throughout the year in pennant and regional events have assisted the selectors in putting together these squads.  The final team to compete in the Australian Sides Championships will be announced on Tuesday May 3rd.
