Gala Week Entries NOW OPEN
Entries are now open for the 2019 Bowls Tasmania State Championships otherwise known as the GALA WEEK OF BOWLS.
This years event will be staged in Hobart from 2nd – 8th January 2019. The host club will be Rosny Park, with support clubs; Buckingham, Claremont, Huonville, Kingborough and New Norfolk. Exact venues for disciplines will be allocated soon.
The Gala Week will again see the Men’s & Women’s Open Singles, Pairs and Fours Championships, the Bowlers with a Disability singles and pairs, the Bowlers with Bowling Arms Singles and Pairs and the Boys & Girls Junior singles and pairs championships.
BOWLERS WITH A DISABILITY
For the first time Bowls Tasmania will be holding official classification qualifying for all Bowlers with a Disability on Saturday 5th January prior to the event commencing on Sunday 6th. The classification process will be completed in 3 phases of classification (bench test, on green test and observation in competition). Participants will then be issued a classification card and entered onto the International Database. It will be compulsory for all Bowlers with a Disability to undergo this process to be eligible to compete in the Championships.
Here is some supporting documentation regarding this to help explain things further;
- the medical certificate each bowler must bring with them to the classification, to confirm their diagnosis
- the requirements in the classification room
- the set up of the assessment rink.
